I love to travel and have been lucky enough to see a few parts of the world. Here are some of the places I have been to.

My first time in Oxford City. I visited the Oxford University Museum and the Pitt Rivers Museum. The Pitt Rivers Museum displayed many items from across the world, including stolen bronzes and artefacts from Benin in West Africa. I come across these stolen pieces in many places I visit.
After a stroll around the city centre, taking in the Universities, I had lunch at the pleasant Westgate Shopping

I spent a pleasant day in Peterborough, taking in the Cathedral, the Museum, and the town centre. Peterborough was a town that my parents talked about moving to during the 1980s.

I last visited the city of Norwich during the 1970s as its University was on my list of places to study.
Norwich is a pleasant city, and in the past was England's second city. I spent the trip at the impressive Cathedral, which has the second-highest spire in England. The Castle Museum had much to see, covering the history of the city and the region from very early times.
The Norwich Market is a pl

Portchester Castle in Fareham, Hampshire, is located on the south coast of England. The castle began life as a Roman "Saxon Shore" fort built to defend the coast of Britannia, and it still retains much of its Roman defences.
The castle used to house prisoners of war during the Napoleonic wars, including around 2,000 African-Caribbean soldiers captured during fighting on St Lucia in the late 1700s

A few days spent in Cologne at the start of February were interesting.
Visiting The Cathedral, Koln Triangle, Museum Ludwig and the NS-Documentation Centre.
The NS-Documentation Centre is the largest regional memorial site in the whole of Germany for the victims of the Nazis. The museum is located in the same building used as a Gestapo office during the Nazi period. The original prison cells in the

I am enjoying my semi-retirement with another city visit, this time to Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Sunderland.
The new city Metro system looks pretty efficient, and I travelled on it between Newcastle city centre and Sunderland and Newcastle city centre and the airport.
I even managed to complete the Newcastle Central to Civic walk, taking in some of the city's sites, including the Stephenson Monument,

York is a cathedral city in North Yorkshire, England, with Roman origins. It is located at the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss and has several historic buildings, such as a minster, castle, and city walls.
The photos show part of the York city walls and The Shambles a street of preserved medieval buildings in York.

I had planned to walk the York City Walls, unfortunately they were closed due to the weather. But spent a pleasant day taking in the city.

The National Railway Museum in York, where you can explore the past, present and future of the railways.

The York Museum Gardens are botanic gardens in the centre of York. Several historic buildings are on the site. The remains of the west corner of the Roman fort of Eboracum, including the Multangular Tower and parts of the Roman walls, can be found on the site.
Eboracum was the Roman name of this important city in the province of Britannia at the time. Interestingly, excavations have shown that Yor
